AFFIRMATION - LEO
I am healthy, happy and welcome positive change.
We may never be remembered for doing great, great things in life, but if we do all little things with Love, we will never be forgotten by a few, and will be remembered with warmth and a smile.
AUGUST Meditation:
Every heartbeat is God’s name to me. Every breath of life is ecstasy. Every night is bliss and I awaken in your company. Then dawn plays a symphony revealing to me my personal reality. Every life is a living God to me. Every thing is an expression of God’s personality. Every kiss is God’s romance and every love is embedded in God’s originality.
I hear, breathe, sing and speak of God. Each day your plan reveals it’s universal truth. From the past to the future, connected, is how each day shall be. Speaking thy name, I will dwell on you eternally. I trust the process of whatever is happening in my life.
Yogi Bhajan
May God grant me Health, Protection and Guidance.

The Sun has entered LEO
The fiery sign of LEO has an inside track on love, power and the universe. One of the best routes you can take is heart-focused meditation. Anything you can do to enhance the purity of your ideas and creativity will bring you rewards. Developing and using your creative abilities creates an energy flow within you that triggers that same flow to others when they encounter the work you have done. Music, acting and temporal forms of artistic expression that involve an audience as you create, brings you an especially potent technique. Engaging in sports activities brings joy and enthusiasm and at its best, brings playfulness to both spectators and players. Taking on a leadership role will challenge you to bring forth your best, Leo. Working and playing with children can also trigger spontaneity within for the benefit of everyone involved. Children respond the best when someone is able to touch their minds and hearts to draw them out. Their relative openness, especially when young, will allow you to open your heart as well. No matter what you do, if you realize that by giving to others you give to and improve yourself, you will always be on the right track.
What’s coming with the August summer eclipses? The Solar Eclipse on August 1st asks you to play, create, and open your heart to Love. This energy asks you to stop the business of your life to better understand that a part of your soul’s mission is to come out and play.
The Lunar Eclipse on August 16th asks you to step into leadership and get involved with your life’s passions. The magic August offers is the chance to accept the changes that are present as well as recharge your batteries for a very busy Autumn.

ANIMAL: The Porcupine - Innocence
Porcupine…remind me
Of innocence again,
With every man a brother
Each woman a friend.
The South Door of the medicine wheel is the place of childlike innocence and humility. It is the home of playfulness, and the position of the Porcupine on the medicine wheel of life.
Porcupine has many special qualities, and a very powerful medicine: this is the power of faith and trust. The power of faith contains within it the ability to move mountains. The power of trust in life involves trusting that the Great Spirit has a divine plan. Your task is to find the pathway that is most beneficial to you and that uses your greatest talents to further that plan. Trust can open doorways to the creation of space. The space thus created allows others to open their hearts to you and share their gifts of love, joy and companionship.
If you were to observe Porcupine, you would immediately notice its quills. These quills are only used when trust has been broken between Porcupine and another creature. Much like Otter, porcupine is a gentle, loving creature, and non-aggressive. When fear is not present it is possible to feed a Porcupine by hand and never get stuck by its quills.
Through understanding the basic nature of this animal, you may come to understand your own need for trust and faith, and to surrender every concern and every desire up to the divine; it’s like becoming a child again. In today’s society, this is a needed reminder to honor the wonder of life and the appreciation of every new day as an adventure of discovery.
Porcupine sat silently look at a hollow log. She wondered if it was a playhouse that nature had created just for her. Porcupine envisioned all the things she could do with the log. She could climb on top and make the log roll from side to side. She could go inside and see if there were any juicy worms for her dinner. She could scratch her back on the rough outer bark of the log if she wanted to.
Just as Porcupine was pondering what to do next, she saw Bear approaching. Bear was big and black and looking for honey. “Oh, another playmate to share my log,” she thought.
“Hello Bear,” she cooed. “Do you want to play and share my log with me?”
Gruff old Bear snorted,”Porcupine do you know that I’m too old to play? You’re in my way. I’m looking for honey. Go away!”
“Why Bear, you’re never too old to play,” she replied. If you forgot what it was like to be a cub, you’ll always be as impatient and gruff as you are now.”
Bear began to think about what Porcupine has said. Maybe she was right. All other creatures had run away from Bear in fright. Even the other Bears had turned up their noses when he growled at them. This little Porcupine was certainly trusting him not to eat her. She even offered to be his friend.
The old Bear looked at Porcupine and began to feel something move inside him. He started to remember the games he had played as a cub. Joy started to live in him again.
“Little Porcupine, you have reminded me that in becoming strong and seeking answers, I got caught in trying to be an intellectual. I became afraid of what other would think if I dropped my mask of gruffness. I was afraid they wouldn’t take me seriously anymore. You have taught me that in being a fuddy-duddy, I was causing others not to care about me. Thank you. I’d love to play with this old log.”
And so it was that Bear became childlike again and learned the innocence of Porcupine.
In choosing the Porcupine to represent the energies of August 2008, you have given yourself a gentle reminder not to get caught in the chaos of the adult world where fear, greed, and suffering are commonplace. The medicine of this Animal Card is that of relief from seriousness and severity. Open your heart to those things that gave you joy as a child. Remember the preciousness of fantasy and imagination, and the making of some game or toy from nothing but scraps. Honor the child within and the spirit that allows everyone to be a winner!

RUNE of the Month
STANDSTILL - Isa
That Which Impedes - Ice
Isa represents the Rune that focus on the winter of the spiritual part of life. You may find yourself entangled in a situation to whose implications you are, in effect, blind. You may be powerless to do anything except surrender, submit, even sacrifice some long-cherished desire. Be patient for this is the fallow period that precedes a rebirth.
Positive accomplishment is unlikely now. There is a freeze on useful activity, as all of your plans are on hold. You may be experiencing an unaccustomed drain on your energy and wonder why. The chill wind is reaching you over the ice flows of old outmoded habits.
Trying to hold on can result in shallowness of feeling, a sense of being out of touch with life, out of phase. Seek to discover what it is that you are holding onto that keeps this condition in effect, and let it go. Shed, release and cleanse away the old. That will bring on the thaw. Usually Isa requires a sacrifice of the personal, the I.
Yet, there is no reason for anxiety. Submit and be still. What you are experiencing is not necessarily the result of your actions, your habits, but the conditions of the time, against which you can do nothing. What has been full must be empty. What has increased must decrease. This is the way of heaven and earth. To surrender is to display courage and wisdom.
During this time do not expect to rely on help or friendly support. Exercise caution in your isolation, and do not stubbornly persist in attempting to work your will. Remain mindful that the seed of the new is present in the shell of the old. The seed of unrealized potential, the seed of good. Your conduct now will bring the new fruit to ripeness, or cause it to rot on the vine. Trust your own process, your Blessed Higher Self and watch for the signs of Spring.
Don’t be afraid to make the leap or take the chance.

LEO
The New Moon in LEO on AUGUST 1st brings a total Solar Eclipse at 1 degree Virgo. Visibility will be over parts of Eastern Asia, Europe, north Alaska and Canada. This New Moon adds firepower in the form of drama, excitement, as well as high honors for some. It is not a time for elective surgery, inaugurations or weddings.
The Full Moon in AQUARIUS on AUGUST 16th brings a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 24 degrees Aquarius. Visibility will not be in North America. It’s a great day to get things done but not so good for romance. Power struggles may cause problems for some. What is going on behind the scenes is available now if you are open. It is not a time to stage a protest or organize a pep rally.
The New (Blue) Moon in VIRGO on AUGUST 30th brings a time for caring, especially for pets, caring for your health and making adjustments at work. Visit the local animal shelter, schedule a massage, or spend an extra day getting caught up in the office.

The Personal Signs
ARIES (3/21-4/20)
August is the Hotspot for everything! So much is going on. Summer fun and socializing, a busy social life and plenty of people contact. Your Blackberry or daily planner must be with you at all times. Organization is key to ensuring you’re available to snap up opportunities that are very exciting. Aim for a getaway early August. If it’s impossible, make reservations for a fall trip, or get theater tickets and enjoy a night or two of pampering at a luxury hotel. Relationships and Romance are in the spotlight!
TAURUS (4/21-5/21)
Conflict with a friendship or close relationship resurfaces. Money and values are likely the issues. You experience difficulties if you are involved in a group or club organization. As reluctant as you are to let go, it might be just time to do that, if not this month then next. Home is your favorite location now. Enjoy lazy evenings and weekends, or roll up your sleeves and begin a complete home improvement project. You shine after the Full Moon Eclipse on the 16th. Invest energy in getting ahead.
GEMINI (5/21-6/20)
Chances are you will move full steam ahead with a rental or home purchase, or some major improvements. If a loan agreement or rental lease is involved, be sure to read the small print and, if necessary, consult an attorney before you sign. Although the first New Moon and the Full Moon trigger your curiosity and spirit of adventure, August is not a month for you to travel. You’re likely to be disappointed with the trip and wish you’d stayed home. Find an alternative.
CANCER (6/21-7/22)
Be very cautious on the road. You’re accident prone, and have to deal with mechanical problems in your home or car. If you need repairs, it’s better to hire an expert rather than risk “do it yourself.” That could be far more expensive. For the same reason, August is not the month to travel. You delight in sharing family time in the comfort of your own space. Think about home improvement projects so you’re set to go when motivation strikes you next month.
LEO (7/23-8/22)
This is the most active month of the year. You have a clear view of how to create the new you, and are completely devoted to accomplishing your goals. Over the next year, you’ll have to decide how to balance fulfilling your plans against meeting your obligations and commitments to others. Events related to this issue come to the surface around August 10th. You have the tendency to be a little too serious these days, but you can temper this by taking time to laugh and enjoy life.
VIRGO (8/23-9/22)
August brings two New Moons, the second called the Blue Moon, which is in Virgo. This gives you the best of both worlds, with time to consolidate and prepare for opportunities to launch new personal directions. This is stressful at times while you ask yourself if you are on the right path. Believe in yourself and be confident with your decisions. If you haven’t had a physical check-up this year, now is a good time to schedule one. Your bank balance improves in late August and you are likely to feel the benefits in September.
LIBRA (9/23-10/22)
August brings a mixed bag. There will be days when you are on the go, dealing with one obstacle after the next. Be extra cautious behind the wheel, in the kitchen, and at work with your tools. Get to bed early and get your rest, as you may get rundown. Friends and family warm your heart but they also frustrate you and leave you wondering how you could have misjudged them. A friend or lover disappoints you at the Full Moon Eclipse, which may prompt some Libra’s to end a relationship.
SCORPIO (10/23-11/22)
You will want to be especially cautious at home during the first part of August, leading up to the Full Moon Eclipse on the 16th, Scorpio. A mechanical problem or weather could cause a household leak,. Relationships will be both uplifting and stressful. A friendship could go by the wayside when you discover that the person you thought you knew is someone entirely different. Be very cautious on the road, especially mid-month.
SAGITTARIUS (11/23-12/21)
Head out of town on the August 1st New Moon; a weekend getaway gives you fresh perspective and a chance to relax before heading into a busy and eventful month with work. Be careful of what you see and hear at the Full Moon Eclipse on the 16th. People stretch the truth and someone may deliberately mislead you. You hear only half the story. Listen to your intuition and ask questions. August has two New Moons, the second a Blue Moon, which heightens your chance for success along with a financial boost.
CAPRICORN (12/22-1/19)
Although you want to travel, August is not the best month. If it’s a must, mid-August is your best choice. Plan ahead for delays, cancellations, and lost luggage. The same timing applies to either beginning or returning to college. Think action, ambition and career. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you’re surprised by supportive, optimistic people around you. Even though you’re the original take-charge, do-it-myself type person, you now benefit with help from others. Ask! Don’t be stubborn.
AQUARIUS (1/20-2/18)
As August opens, you are drawn to other people, and they to you. The first week of August, and again on the 20th, you have an opportunity to meet someone who becomes a lifelong friend. Look up in the sky on the 16th when the big beautiful Moon is full and in your sign. The iridescent moonbeams light up the sky as well as your life. At month’s end the New Moon highlights another aspect for you, Money! For you this is both easy and difficult. The positive times increase income and trigger lucky breaks. The other side brings unexpected expense.
PISCES (2/19-3/20)
You will need to watch your stress levels during August. It’s important to take time out to meditate, take a walk at lunchtime, or unwind at bedtime. In the beginning of the month you have an opportunity to showcase your skills and talents. Think carefully if you are offered a promotion or new position. It might not work out as well as you’d hoped. Workplace difficulties continue through month’s end. You, your partner or both of you could earn a raise or a bonus, or net some kind of windfall.
