February 2008 - Meditation

Now withdraw into the rose center of your heart. Meditate on the perfect orange rose. (For new energy and new beginnings.) The rose of twelve petals lies at the temple of your heart. It’s petals are opening to the sun - every petal gleaming and glowing with the light. There is an ineffable light in the heart of the rose.

Become enfolded within these petals, in a soft pearly light. You are within the temple of the rose, the Sun pours down into the heart… opening up the doorway to all empowering, unconditional Love. You are a part of this radiance and one with all of humanity, within the heart of the Winter ROSE coming into a fresh bloom as Spring begins, Aquarius.

The Sun has entered Aquarius

Aquarius, you are the Eleventh Sign of the Zodiac. After the establishment and structure of the energies of Capricorn, it is your job to make sure that these structures blend, mix and are flexible with the needs of the people they are meant to serve. In the Northern Hemisphere, yours is the month of the deepest part of winter, which can be most unrelenting. The cold, dry air crackles with electricity. Yet the light of Spring is returning, most perceptibly, along with signs of life, although subtle, which stirs our hopes that Spring will arrive soon. In the Western Zodiac yours is the sign of the Water Bearer, although his jugs were more likely to be filled with air, which is your element. In early Babylonian times your constellation was called the “Giant,” suggesting a great being who knows all and sees all. You are likely to be aware of any political situation since you represent group dynamics. You may now value your role as a detached outsider, especially if you feel there is corruption with group leaders. RUNE of the Month - Hagalaz DISRUPTION

Disruptive Natural Forces, Elemental Power, Hail

Hagalaz represents the urge to change. This Rune brings freedom, invention and liberation. The time of February energies 2008 indicate a pressing need within the psyche to break free from constricting identification with material reality and to experience the world of archetypal mind.

Hagalaz is the Rune of elemental disruption, representing unaccountable weather conditions, sudden storms, winds and events beyond your control. The energies of Aquarius will be a time of Awakening although the form in which the awakening takes may vary for each one of us. Perhaps you will experience a gradual feeling of coming to your senses, as though you were emerging from a long sleep. Then again, the onset of power may be such as to rip away the fabric of what you previously knew as your reality, your security, your understanding of yourself, your work, your relationships and beliefs.

Be aware, however, that what operates here is not ultimately an outside force, not a situation of you at the mercy of the externals. Your own nature is creating what is happening and you are not without power in the situation. The inner strength you have funded until now in your life, is your support and guide at a time when everything you’ve taken for granted is being challenged.

This time of February 2008 puts us all on notice! Severe changes are on the way! We have two Eclipses, one in Aquarius and one in Virgo, conjuncting transiting Saturn, and Mercury is retrograde for the first half of February as well! You may sustain loss or damage, a tree may fall on your home, your town may be hit by a tidal wave, or tornadoes, a relationship may fail, plans go wrong, a source of financial supply may dry up. Be forewarned! Be encouraged to understand and accept that what occurs is necessary, called for from somewhere within in your deepest self as a cry for a pressing need for soul growth.

There is nothing trivial about this RUNE. The more severe the disruption in your life, the more significant and timely the requirements for your growth. The term radical discontinuity best describes the action of this time, a Cycle of Runes at its most forceful. The Universe and your own Soul are demanding that you do, indeed, grow.

ANIMAL: ARMADILLO

Armadillo - Boundaries

Armadillo…
Armor all my boundaries,
Teach me my shields,
Reflect all the hurt,
So I will not yield.

Armadillo wears its armor on its back, its medicine a part of its body. Its boundaries of safety are a part of its total being. Armadillo can roll into a ball and never be penetrated by enemies.

What a gift it is to set your boundaries so that harmful words or intentions just roll off. Your lesson is in setting up what you are willing to experience. If you do not wish to experience feeling invaded, just call on Armadillo.

A clue to how to proceed is to make a circle on a piece of paper and see it as a medicine shield. In the body of the shield, write all that you desire to have, do, or experience. Perform this ritual before the New Moon on February 6th if you can. Be sure to include all that you love and things that bring you joy. This is called setting a condition. This will set up boundaries for you, and will allow only these chosen experiences to be a part of your life. These boundaries become a shield that wards off all things which are undesirable to you. The shield reflects what you are and what your will is to others on an unconscious level. Outside of the shield you may put what you are willing to experience by invitation only. An example would be a visit by a long lost relative, or criticism from friends, or people asking for handouts.

Armadillo waddles into February’s Aquarius-Pisces energies. It is time to define your space. You may have been too willing to allow your home to become a bus station. You may find that you cannot say no, even when you know that you will have to cancel other plans to be obliging. This routine can get old in a hurry!

It may be time to ask yourself the following questions:

• Am I honoring the time I need for my personal enjoyment?
• Do others treat me like a doormat?
• Why do I always get upset when I’m taken for granted?
• Is there a reason for my being a “yes” person?

All of the answers to these questions relate to setting up boundaries. They help to show what you will do and what you won’t do. They show what is comforting and comfortable to you, and what is not. How you react in any circumstance has to do with your ability to become objective and tune into the environment and to others. You cannot be objective if you cannot tell where the other person’s personality stops and where yours begins. If you have set no boundaries, you become a sponge. It will seem as if all of the feelings in a room full of people are yours. Ask yourself if you are really feeling depressed or if this feeling really belongs to the person you are talking to? Then allow Armadillo’s armor to slice in-between, giving you back your sense of self.

ARIES (3/21-4/20)
You are looking forward to changes and growth in 2008, however your effort to move forward with this may falter at first. On the 2nd and 6th you may feel a mismatch between your plans and reality, causing you to backtrack when you should really be moving forward. After the New Moon on the 6th plans that really mean something to you could begin to take off. Don’t assume anything with Mercury retrograde, and be sure to check out all of your facts. After the 18th all drags and lags will seem to be lifted and you will know that it is time to network and mix a little business with pleasure. At the Full Moon eclipse on the 20th work emphasizes that you use caution and give full attention to the smallest details. At month’s end you can make some more headway on the social circuit and return to projects that were stalled earlier in the year.

TAURUS (4/21-5/21)
You may be planning a pleasant getaway even though Mercury is retrograde. Be sure not to make any career moves until Mercury goes direct on the 18th. The New Moon helps you to clear the decks with your boss, but you still need to tread lightly. Do not make any sudden moves. When you communicate with the Higher-Ups be straightforward and realistic. That’s the way to make sure people understand you the first time. Overspending on the 14th won’t buy you happiness, so keep your cash in your pockets, or rather the bank. After the 18th the planets shine down on you bringing praise and favor from anyone who has some kind of authority in your life. The Boss? A Client? Time for a raise? Raise your rates? Expect an extra dose of unconditional love. The 20th has other’s interested in your thoughtful approach to a situation that may have others stumped. On the 26th you could receive some payback as a follow-up from all your good work of late. Others have an interest in your creative ideas. You can make them a reality with a little hard work.

GEMINI (5/21-6/20)
A gift could somehow come your way as February opens, Gemini, and from quite an unexpected source. Don’t spend it all in one place! At the New Moon on the 6th you feel it’s time to find a private corner and settle down with a good book. You may be feeling a bit restless but with Mercury retrograde, you know it’s best to travel inside the mind rather than out on the road. This experience can truly enlighten you now. Viewing movies or plays can be inspiring, also. Be sure they are good, human stories and not guns and chasing people. Find a quiet spot where you can meditate and do some mind travel. After the eclipse on the 18th you make time for a quick getaway or a longer one if it has been in the planning stages. The Full Moon promises you that you can be freed from your obligations and find time for some R&R. The 24th brings you back to reality with some kind of unexpected obligation. If you are still away, try to handle it long distance as two days later, on the 26th, you could meet your Soul Mate, or at least a very good new friend.

CANCER (6/21-7/22)
You may feet strong and positive as the month opens, Cancer but confusion sets in rather quickly. Since this energy is focused in your financial sector, it may be confusion over a bill you owe, short paid, or forgot to pay. Check the figures you get from others because hey could be very much in error. Money problems continue and the most likely source of confusion could be funds that you share with a business or a romantic partner. Keep your hands out of the till and be sure your partner is doing the same. At the Full Moon eclipse in Virgo, suddenly the financial problems begin to ease. Answers to little hassles and questions quickly fall into place. By month’s end you sense that it’s time to move on to other concerns. The Big News is that you could receive a payoff, however this one will not be a freebie, so think long and hard before you answer or commit.

LEO (7/23-8/22)
Things may be nice in your workspace for a day or two as February opens, Leo. After that Mercury Retrograde seems to want to take over somehow. Can you say, “I’m confused?” Try to be extra clear in the communication with your spouse, live in lover or business partner. After the 14th you move into a new direction. Someone may point you forward, giving you a look in a direction that you may not have been aware of until now. Make plans and be ready to move ahead as well as to act and commit. As Mercury goes direct on the 18th you may feel that you are now on the same page as the others in the area where confusion seemed to reign a few weeks ago. At the Full Moon eclipse you may feel like its time to discuss money issues with your partner or spouse. Know that you can get these things done. Although you may come into a financial but creative disagreement with your partner, you can come to a meeting of the minds. You can solve any disagreements that will leave you both satisfied. On the 28th take a break and relax!

VIRGO (8/23-9/22)
Even though a good deal of February may be taken up with somewhat confusing work matters, it’s the 1st that you’ll remember. Not only is this a fun and loving day but it occurs in your romance sector. It could be a simple flirtation or a lucky tip from a friend, but either way it promises to be enjoyable. Your workshop could be the scene of confusion. Something you are trying to do doesn’t seem to be coming out right. This can make for conflict between your fellow workers and boss if they are involved. You can straighten this out by mid-month, but be assertive, not aggressive. The Full Moon eclipse shows that you need to take a clue from a partner on a matter of importance for you both. It I okay to let him or her have the last word here, as it is likely that this issue has you a bit confused. At the Full Moon eclipse you are put in charge of any issue between anyone; don’t overplay your hand. While you may have to be firm, do remember to be diplomatic. Amen!

LIBRA (9/23-10/22)
Venus sets a nice tone for you Libras the entire month of February, which is Heart month. A profuse of activity, especially at the New Moon on the 6th focus on your creative spirit, the side of you that can make something fun and entertaining out of the most dreariest plan, project or party. This month is your time to shine and in doing so you will brighten the world for others. You are in the midst of a creative storm and the universe is supporting you. You may decide to do something you have thought about for some time, even though it could be a bit risky. However, it could really produce something worthwhile. There is no way it will get done unless you just get right down and do it! The Full Moon eclipse highlights that you must begin to get down to business and begin moving ahead. Enlist the aid of friends and loved ones, find some extra cash if that’s what it takes, but it is past time to put your plans into action. After the 26th you may have time to relax a bit and party, maybe in your new home. You move into a more relaxed pace as March opens.

SCORPIO (10/23-11/22)
Many of the things that you and your lover of family members need to discuss may not seem like hat big a deal. However with Mercury still retrograde, the issues may get confused a bit. Patience and charity is essential now. Don’t take it for granted that family members understand what you are trying to say. Get things straight, as there is no need to complicate something simple. Around the 10th a family discussion could just collapse. Keep your wits about you. Frustrations could be vented now, but there is no need to allow it to ruin things. Stick to the point of any discussions and you should soon be back on track. Things begin to ease up and become clear after the 18th when Mercury turns direct. At the Full Moon eclipse a family discussion ends on a high note bringing forth creative ideas and high hopes for the future. Plans you have been working on over the past few weeks become a challenge, as you search for ways of turning a mere dream into a concrete reality. Though you can do it, it may not be quite as simple as you first thought. A break in your work routine comes at month’s end. Invite some friends over and party.

SAGITTARIUS (11/23-12/21)
You may know exactly what you want to say, Sag, but Mercury is still retrograde, causing mischief with your personal communication. Please think carefully before you speak. (Not normal for Sag.) This is especially important as you are in a generous mood as February opens and you don’t want anyone to misunderstand either the intention behind a gift or the amount. Take yourself away from the mainstream and find something to do that does not have a lot of jabber, either from you or from others. Silence can be golden but talking too much could cost you a bundle, so don’t commit to anything and keep your own counsel until Mercury turns direct on the 18th. On the 14th, Valentine’s Day, stifle any disagreements with your lover or spouse. After the 18th your silent time is over, and you can begin to speak up again whenever you wish. On the 20th you can use your power of persuasion regarding pending family issues. Time to take the lead regarding these matters. If you have been having issues regarding balancing home and work responsibilities, you may have to wait until after the 26th to restore things to balance. Listen to what others have to say, meet your responsibilities do the best you can, and just wait it out.

CAPRICORN (12/22-1/19)
Mercury retrograde in your money house could bring some money questions out into the open, Cap. The New Moon is a very good time to have your spouse, a friend or anyone else you trust check anything you put on paper regarding money, including writing checks to pay the monthly bills. Around the 10th you could experience some financial confusion, but you can prevent that if you get help checking over the figures. If you think you have been shortchanged in some way, don’t fly off the handle. Instead take the facts and figures to that spouse or friend and get a second opinion. After the 18th you will begin to feel much more relaxed about financial situations. At the Full Moon eclipse, faraway places beckon you and you spend time planning a summer getaway or vacation. On the 24th you may find yourself learning an unexpected lesson from someone you respect. You may resist a little at first, but be sure to give a listen, and you may become enlightened. A generous mood overtakes you on the 26th. Give from your heart but make sure it matches whatever you have in your bank account.

AQUARIUS (1/20-2/18)
You may feel as if you are walking in a dream as February opens, Aquarius. Ever try to communicate with someone in a dream state? All of this will pass so grin and bear it. Even if communication is a bit strained at present. With Mercury retrograde until the 18th, you can make the most of it on the 10th. A flair for the dramatic will carry you through even the most uncomfortable situation right now, and if you have a good sense of humor, that helps too. On the 14th you want a change of pace. If you feel like partying don’t over do it. Listen to your friends when they tell you to chill. The Full Moon eclipse in Virgo highlights both of your financial sectors. Charm will get you everywhere now, and may even get you in the good graces with someone with funds to spare, if you need something,, especially if it’s regarding business. If you require some financial support, now is the time to put in for your bid. On the 24th you may get a “no” answer on a financial bid you applied for, do not take this negative answer to heart. Instead, go back to the people and present your case again, point out some things that this other person may have overlooked. Offer to make changes where necessary, and you just may get your desired financial offer.

PISCES (2/19-3/20)
You have open ambition and want to fulfill your secret dreams. You have the ability to bring others on board for a campaign or project of your choosing. Both your ideas as well as your charm can sway others. What you would really like to do is more comprehensive then you let on. On the 10th your imagination is working overtime, especially through your dreams. The ideas and dreams you experience should inspire you, at least for a short time. They may also lead you to inspire others. If you keep a dream diary, focus on it now. When Mercury goes direct you are in a better frame of mind, with an even more positive spin at the Full Moon eclipse in Virgo. A partner may inspire you with some inspiration. Whether you are down in the dumps or looking for answers to theoretical questions, you may find the answers, surprisingly, right in your own back yard. On the 24th you may experience some conflict with your inspired friend. A difference of opinion may make one of you an irresistible force and the other the unmoveable object. Somethings gotta give here. You will find a compromise that you can sell to the other person by month’s end. Spend the last few days of February setting things right.
