|That's Life - Steps for Creating A Great Life
|Learn the TAROT!
Karma is the key, designed by the Divine Plan, for our Soul growth and is based on the Natural Law of cause and effect. There are very specific consequences for the actions, thoughts and feelings of the overall energy we emanate from within ourselves everyday. The famed saying, everything that goes around comes around, perfectly describes the Law of karma. If we can learn that everything we experience on this planet is a part of the Earth School, then we can appreciate the Law of Karma as our Soul's Inner Curriculum Advisor. Our checkmate. Our trials, tribulations, sicknesses and depression are a reflection of unexpressed and unresolved issues from the past of this lifetime as well as previous lifetimes. Rather than gripe about how touch our life is and our Karmic role, we could embrace these experiences and see it as an opportunity to develop some much-needed Soul qualities to add to our Inner Soul Character, which is what we take on with us after death. Everyday we live in this lifetime as well as our actions and responses, sets up the days and lessons of our next-coming life.
Karma is a neutral force. Most of us do not realize that fact. Like an absolutely unbiased judge, it isn't swept away by begging for mercy, plea-bargaining, threats, or denial. It is simply a metaphysical dynamic carrying the laws of the universe, dictating ultimate accountability for all that we create.
Karma is not always "bad." It is gratifying to make note of our "good Karma" such as hard earned gifts, resources, talents and grace showered upon us from this lifetime and previous lifetimes of willingness, cooperation, overcoming obstacles, discipline, maturity, spiritual growth, hard work, endurance, self-responsibility, and the development of your creative abilities, service to others, selflessness, self-love and inner faith. Every effort we have previously made to further our evolution is "rewarded". Nothing we do goes unnoticed. NOTHING!
When I began to understand the aspects of karma I was greatly relieved. Thank God I didn't have to get it right the first time around. Eighty to ninety years is just not long enough! I couldn't imagine working through all of my illusions, confusions, frustrations and blind spots in threat short of a life span. Karma is the by-product of reincarnation. Assuming that we get another chance to incarnate over and over again, karma describes the results of the Soul's efforts to uncover our essential nature, while exploring the wonder of divinity, decision and manifestation through the earthly life.
Even if one refuses to believe in past lives, karma still exists in this lifetime. Life orchestrates for us precise situations, placing us on the receiving end of our previous actions and thoughts. If we hurt someone in a deliberate way, we will be hurt and become vulnerable down the road. It may not be returned by the one we hurt, but may manifest through a different situation. This may take fifty years or a week or so, but eventually the results of our actions circle around either as rewards, obstacles, losses or difficulties.
No one can escape their Karma, no matter how hard they try. There are certain people, events and circumstances we just cannot walk away from. We are stuck with them, especially with the karma of our primary family. We may complain and moan like the high school student resenting the teacher who gives too much unfair homework, but nonetheless, the work has to get done!
It is pure illusion to think that yourself or others can somehow slip slide through life, getting away with cruel, harmful, selfish and thoughtless behavior free of consequences. It is very comforting to know that all of our actions catch up with us. Becoming aware of this great metaphysical principle erases my instinctual need for revenge when someone has hurt me. Trusting that their karma will provide to them exactly what they need, and create a situation for them where they will be on the receiving end of the pain, enabling them to realize the negative impact they had on my life, I am then released from the need to having to show them by reciprocity. I will never have to sink to their level just to get even. I just take a deep breath, bow my head and hand if over to the Karmic Board Hierarchy.
This Karmic Board is made up of the guides, teachers, masters and angels of the higher realms, and loved ones who are entrusted with the love and are of our individual souls. They review our lifetimes, help us to establish areas that need further development, purification and refinement. Apparently the difficult and challenging situations are mandated (course requirements) to fulfill karmic obligations of one's Higher Self as well as to others.
Karma and the understanding of Karma, motivates like nothing else. Being acutely aware of whatever we do, think or feel comes around to us again, whether in this lifetime or some future one, makes one slow down a bit to think about the possible repercussions automatically generated from moment to moment. One thing I have always taught my students, when you have an opportunity to apologize or set something right from any pain you have caused someone, do it! Otherwise the universe will do it for you, and you really don't want that option. Forgiveness is paramount in negating a karmic revenge. Once I understood the implications of karma and how we build our karmic lessons, I was able to observe every thought and expression I gave out to others, knowing full well that whatever energy I generated would eventually circle back around, demonstrating to me its full impact on the world, as well as myself. My mind, eagerly overactive, microscopically scrutinized all of my actions and thoughts, wondering what subtle or no so subtle karmic impact my daily actions were producing.
It is easy to become enveloped in this, examining one's life with relentless vigilance, fueled by the fear of generating "bad karma." After all, I figured I had generated enough bad karma in my past lives to keep me busy and thwarted for generations to come, as I busily cleaned up all the messes my former selves had created. God forbid I should trigger more "bad karma." I'd be stuck staying after school for an eternity to catch up on endless Soul Homework.
Karma and the Laws there of have been used rather mercilessly by "spiritual" people who explain away other people's difficulties and suffering with the expression, "Oh well, that's their Karma." Understanding the Law of Karma does not negate the need for compassion and understanding along with a dose of unconditional love. Karma or no Karma, life's lessons can be very painful. We all need support and caring for the tremendously demanding process of being human.
At some point during our lifetime, we all become blind. Because we all unconsciously do or say harmful things to each other does not mean we "deserve" the "bad karma" these actions may generate in subsequent lifetimes. Karma is not a punishment laid down by a judgmental God. It is simply an energetic response on a learning curve. We can negate Karma through kindness, love, understanding, compassion and positive communication. If we see the error of our ways and attempt to make amends, we remove the backlash of Karmic lessons. It is very tempting to get into a false Spiritual Pride by judging other's difficulties as an indication that they are not very evolved. This is in error. Often some very old souls carry highly challenging karma orchestrated to propel them to higher levels of consciousness. Remember the lesson of Mahavitar Babaci, a great yogi of the Himalayas. Babaci taught that even the beggar in New York City, dressed in rags, asking for a quarter, could be the Lord himself in disguise.
Karma has an incredible staying power, no matter how hard we try to obliterate cosmic obligations to our Blessed Higher Self, each other and the earth plane. When we don't apply ourselves to consciously evolve in our soul's personal course work, karmic patterns just keep repeating over and over again until we finally get it right! It's that simple. The beauty of this indefatigable metaphysical dynamic is that it gives us infinite opportunities and possibilities to learn our lessons and bring us closer into the heart of God. Staying in first grade for hundreds of years is an option. However, it is a lot more exciting to graduate to higher levels and receive the challenges that will result in extended wisdom. The only thing worth seeking in life is deeper love and wisdom.
When faced with difficult karmic situations I am the first to protest to the Divine. What did I do to deserve this? It is just not fair! Aren't I doing a good job here in my Earth School?
Then I receive from my inner voice this comfort:
Remember - Every moment of life is absolutely precious. Every phenomenon, person, animal, plant, machine, is in the divine universal order, exactly as it should be. In God's plan, all things are in a constant state of change and transformation, each expressing the inner beauty from within. In the Universe, things are not good or bad. Everything simply exists and unfolds exactly the way it is at that moment in time.
When we choose to see the positive inner sacredness of all people and things, we honor the unique unfolding of the universal order and structure. However, when we choose to see things in more critical terms, we step down into a more limited, and sometimes self-righteous, level of human thinking. This can have a profound impact on our own perspective of reality and what kind of life we manifest for ourselves.
There was a time that I had been a concerned citizen, worrying often about the state of the world. With an open mind I seriously reviewed different perspectives on society, the economy, government and the world at large. After a couple of years of immersion study in the alternative media and information from different pro-environmental organizations, I came to the conclusion that most of the views espoused from these groups were heavily skewed towards the negative. More than that, some groups and individuals were so heavily ensconced in anti-establishment rhetoric, that their contagious unproven theories about government plots and corporate corruption easily contaminated the minds of innocent, yet receptive listeners.
It's my belief that the proponents of these various movements might better serve their audience if they focused their own minds on the beauty and joy in this world, and leaving the necessity for global change to manifest according the divine will of the universe. By becoming overly critical of the state of the world, each of us loses something very fundamental to our own happiness: A sense of appreciation for what is.
Everything that exists in your life should be deeply appreciated. For as you are a free global citizen, you have so much to be grateful for. Why criticize when with the same mind you can create thoughts of appreciation for the abundance, joy and grandeur that this world offers us?
Remember - Thinking becomes reality
The different teachings of spiritual masters of higher consciousness converge on one very essential point: Our thinking becomes our reality. Each unit of thought has its impact in our lives, and on our planet, which will eventually become manifest into our reality. This is a Spiritual Law of the universe. This is the reaction of Karma.
If we take a child and fill his or her mind with negativity, doubts and fears from the time of their birth, then surely they will not grow up to become happy and secure. Equally true is when we share with our children thoughts and feelings of love, joy and gratitude. Then we sow the seeds of positively, giving them the foundation for a happy life.
Likewise, when we focus our own minds on the positive and sacred virtues of the world, we create the foundation for a happy life for our family and ourselves. At any given moment in time each of us can choose to see the positive or negative side of any person, thing or event. Let's vow to choose the positive.
Remember to create your own Inner Happiness
How do we create inner happiness? Well a good place to start is by tuning into your own inner thought patterns. The main point is to think positively about everything and everyone. See the joy and beauty of life, of people, and of things. Make it a point to find the hidden beauty and joy of everything, because in reality, every thing and every person is an aspect of God, and a part of yourself.
I have a very dear friend who is an ophthalmologist. He once told me something that changed my life forever: He said that whenever a person comes in for a pair of glasses and they ask his opinion on how well the frames look on them, he first looks for the most beautiful part of their face. No matter how old, or how unattractive by conventional standards, he has trained his mind to focus on the beauty, rather than the lack of beauty. That is the main point: If we train our minds to see the beauty and joy of life, then surely beauty and joy will become manifest in your life.
When your inner world and thoughts are full of joy, appreciation and beauty, then your words will reflect that as well. Now, instead of spreading discontent and unhappiness to your "sphere of influence", you will be spreading words and thoughts of joy, gratitude and happiness. This positive energy wave will extend out from your own spiritual center to reach others, like ripples in a pond. These ripples of joy will make other people around you happier, and they will then extend their positive ripple to others in their "sphere of influence." Surprise! That is exactly how we can all be part of creating a happier and more joyful world.
Karma, a gift from the universe, provides a guideline for the Soul's evolutionary curve. It is the road map through which the self describes the specific journey of the Soul in this particular lifetime. Ultimately fair, karma establishes cosmic justice. The Law of Karma is EXACT. Karmic Law dispenses the lessons which are uniquely tailored to the individual student.
Karma is not literally an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth. Rather, it is the end result of energies established long ago, to fulfill the need for developing new soul qualities. Someone may experience great levels of abandonment by loved ones in this lifetime. YES - this may mean that they abandoned others in previous lives. Or it could mean that through the experience of abandonment and the pain it brings, they can learn the precious quality of connectedness and loyalty. These may be the new lessons for the Soul to experience and not necessarily corrective lessons from past lives.
Karma illustrates the circular energetic nature of the universe. Energy doesn't move in a linear format, but rather arcs back to itself as a vibration in an ever widening, narrow and concentrated circle. Every energetic impulse that the self projects eventually returns to the self, precisely the way it was issued out.
Narrow, concentrated circles represents a karma that is returned to the self quickly. For example, if a parent harshly scolds a child for taking too long to tie their shoelaces, later that day their boss may harshly reprimand them for missing deadline. The challenge for the student is to notice this karmic energetic return, rather than seeing these two events as random and unrelated. Once the connection is made, the student's awareness is heightened. A profound learning has taken place deep witihn the Soul structure of the spirit of the self.
Other karmic conditions and responses are carried on in woder concentrated circles, which whirl about around the aura of each individual. Within this format is may tke several lifetimes for the karma to come around again. This delayed reaction allows the Soul to evolve while developing other qualities in preparation of receiving back the karmic lesson.
To the current self, who may be working hard to be the perfect student, these karmic mandates may feel harsh and unrelated. After all, why should the gentle, loving student have to struggle with the consequences of a past life's murderous rage? Yet, deep inside one's being, there is a memory of that unresolved behavior, even if it is not conscious. The karma that returns brings an opportunity to resolve that behavior, no matter how ancient the past action. The beauty of karma is that its purpose is for learning and release. Once the resoultion of karma occurs, the karma dissolves, never to return. It is transmuted into positive energy forces. Liberating the self from the sticky sensation of having to deal with certain people, situations, governmental cliamtes, health conditions, spiritual challenges, blind spots, etc.
The karmic mandate of what goes around comes around is practically set in stone. It is subject to change through the Law of Grace, depending on the self's efforts in the current lifetime. Like the teacher who drops the lowest grade to allow for the inevitable slips and slides of human nature, so to can the student dissolve certain karma criteria when the self has earned a level of consciousness no longer requiring the rigors of karmic events previously tailored to shape and maturate the Soul. This forgiveness is determined by your Higher Self and God. While the self cannot jump over any karmic requirements due them, the student can open wholeheartedly to these requirements of life. Your life assignments are your life assignments. Welcome them and pass through them in a positive way, in order to attain a higher level of consciousness.
One's attitude towards their Soul's homework makes a world of difference. A positive embrace of all karma encircling into one's life lifts the heaviness of the work, speeding up its completion. So, surrender to karma, rejoice in the great wisdom and understanding tha it brings, allowing the Soul to circle around and around, exploring the multi-diemnsions of its divinity through human passions.
There are no time mandates on karma. Self can ride the Wheel of Karma for as long as is needed for the growth of the Soul. Then, finally, the glorious day arrives, a day of triumphant celebration in the universe. Self steps off the Karmic Wheel, is liberated at long last, encircled in ove and appreciation for the masterpiece that is the Soul's promise and fruition.
