Essential Oils and Love Scents

Essential Oils are the life giving healing resin derived from plant life that delivers oxygen and nutrients while protecting the plant. The ancient Egyptians were the first to discover that essential oils possessed valuable substances that produced many benefits for the mind, body and spirit. As you begin to use them, you are certain to discover why these oils were so revered by the ancient world. Essential oils are highly concentrated, so begin to use them slowly while listening to your body.
Direct Application
When using natural products, only your body knows how it is going to respond. Essential oils are soluble with the lipids in the skin and in most cases can easily penetrate and are absorbed into the bloodstream. These oils may be worn like perfume or cologne and can be applied neat (full-strength) or diluted using the V-6 mixing oil. As a rule, since essential oils are one of nature’s most concentrated and potent extracts, dilution is strongly recommended for those who;
- are first time users
- have sensitive and fair skin
- are applying them to sensitive areas of the body
- are trying a new oil or blend of oils
- are infants or children
If one oil is layered over another, allow enough time between applications to gauge the body’s reaction before applying the next oil.
Recommended Dilution
Use 1 to 3 drops of an essential oil blended with 1/2 teaspoon of V-6 mixing Oil, which is formulated with vitamin E and cold-pressed oil from sesame seeds, grape seeds, almonds, wheat germ and sunflower seeds. Any other pure vegetable oil may be used. More or less dilution might be desirable, depending on skin sensitivity, type of oil used and the degree of effect desired. Take a careful, measured approach when using any essential oil and adjust both the quantity of oil used and the amount of dilution in accordance with the body’s responses.
Feet
Applying 4-6 drops of oil to the bottom of each foot is a popular way to begin. Oil may be rubbed on the VitaFlex points of the foot - a technique explained in Aromatherapy, the Essential Beginning by D. Gary Young.
On Location
After applying the oils to the bottom of the feet, you may want to go to another location on the body. Just add a few drops (1-5) of Essential Oils diluted with 1/2 tsp. of V-6 Mixing Oil when necessary, and rub on the desired area. If you are using essential oils for the first time, wait at least 15 to 30 minutes before using a second oil, allowing the body time to respond to the initial application.
Compress
Rub 1- 3 drops over location (diluted or undiluted, depending on the oil) and cover with a hot, wet towel. Place a dry towel over the wet one and leave on for 10-60 minutes. As the oil penetrates, you may experience a sensation of warmth or feel a slight burning. if so, dilute this area with V-6 Mixing Oil immediately. Discoloration of the cloth used might appear due to the body’s excretion of toxins.
Massage
Several drops (5-10) of Essential Oils may be added to any massage oil base.
Bathing
When adding Essential Oils to bathwater, use a Bath Gel Base as a dispersing agent.
Diffusing and Inhalation
An aromic diffuser is a wonderful way to disperse Essential Oils into the air for inhalation. The Young Living brand diffuser consists of an oil well, nebulizer (glass tube) and air pump which is designed to disperse a super-fine mist of Essential Oils throughout the air. University research indicates that Essential Oils can counteract offensive odors while refreshing the air with a natural fragrance. Fragrances can help induce a sensation of well being, creating an atmosphere of peace and harmony. Put enough drops (30-40) into the diffuser well to send the fragrant mist up the nebulizer.
Direct Inhalation
Put several drops of Essential Oils into the cupped palms of your hands and breathe in deeply.
Love Scents
Is cinnamon the way to a man’s heart? When researchers exposed men to dozens of scents, the only one that got a positive sexual response was the aroma of hot cinnamon buns. However, there are several other scents that can add sensuality to your Valentine romance.
It’s no surprise that women and men use love scents to pamper themselves. Research shows that people use fragrances for many reasons, some are listed as follows;
I like the scent (83 percent)
It makes me feel better about myself (63 percent)
To enhance my feeling of well-being (68 percent)
To make myself more romantically attractive to others. (51 percent)
To accessorize and make a fashion statement (46 percent)
According to fragrance experts, certain smells can incite sexual desire. Who needs to cast a love spell when you have this knowledge? The essential oils best suited for sensuality are:
jasmine
roses
sandalwood
sandalwood and roses together
These oils have anecdotal history in aromatherapy literature as being sensuous. However, there is no scientific explanation foe how or why these essential oils, especially with some candlelight, enhance the sex drive. My friend said, “I love candles. Candles, an appealing scent and a sweet smelling woman? Who could resist!”
Phermones
Phermones, the chemicals secreted naturally from the body, play a powerful role in our lives and tell you about people who you cross paths with. Your phermones are odorless and invisible and as they glide thorough the air, they carry with them vital information about you. Their target is other humans. When a phermone hits its target, it delivers its love scent message. The result? Phermone’s effect the emotions of other people and determine if your are either attracted to or repelled by others.
Nowadays, synthesized human phermones are being added to cosmetic products. Cosmetic company researchers say these fragrances help enhance positive feelings or boost confidence, but they are not aphrodisiacs. All phermone products are odorless. They deliver a chemical reaction by sending an odorless fragrance through the sir from the “wearer” that hopefully will attract the attention from the opposite sex and/or their beloved.
As Durante always said, “The nose knows!”
What your nose tells you may play an important past in how you choose your lover or your friends. Good friendships and romantic liaisons are based upon what scientists call the “olfactory bonding.” Research shows that fragrances can make an important impact on our social relationships.
One study revealed that when people believes their scent was pleasing to others, it boosted their confidence in social situations. In fact, according to a nationwide survey by the New York Times, 79 percent of women agreed their scent can lead to sex and romance while 86 percent of the men agreed.
Remember the film, The Scent of a Woman? Al Pacino played a sensitive blind man who could detect the brand of perfume that a woman wears. It was a trait that made him, as well as the attracted perfume wearer, feel good. After all, its an instant emotional boost when a man notices the scent a woman wears.
Finding the right fragrance for you takes work and effort. For daytime choose a fragrance that is a signature to your personality. For evening get something sensuous, and exotically rich. A high priced rose or jasmine oil should do the trick. (You can order these oils from Egypt.)
Remember, inexpensive essential oils such as sandalwood and cinnamon are sexy scents, too. Apply the oil to your pulse points in the neck and on the wrists and don’t forget your knees, so the scent can travel upward as you walk. Other sensual scents, ginger (arousing and warming), lemon (relaxes and stimulates), and cedarwood (releases tension and aggression).
Additional Benefits
Cleaning
A few drops of Essential Oil may be added to the dishwasher or washing machine to help promote greater hygiene. Drop some on the dashboard of your car, allowing the car to sit in the sun for a few minutes, to refresh the inside of the car.
Detoxification Problems
People have reported that when applying too many different oils or too much of one oil, the body may begin a natural cleansing response, which can cause headaches, rashes, nausea, burning, diarrhea, etc. Should this occur, simply reduce the amount of oil and frequency of application, and begin to drink plenty of purified water. Ask your health practitioner to monitor any detoxification effects. You may want to consider an internal cleansing program before continuing to use these oils.
Caution
If you have used cosmetics or personal care products containing petrochemicals or other synthetic ingredients (watch out for sodium lauryl sulfate), you may have an unpleasant cleansing experience triggered by the releasing of stored toxins through the skin, especially on the face and neck area.
IMPORTANT TIPS
Skin Test Essential Oils Before Using
Dilute a small amount and apply to location. If redness, burning, irritation and itching occurs, dilute with V-6 Mixing Oil or any pure vegetable oil and contact your health care professional. If this persists, discontinue use.
Keep all Essential Oils tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
Do not ingest Essential Oils.
Keep your Essential Oils away from eyes and mucus membranes. Never put directly into ears.
Don’t mix Essential Oils with water.
Most Essential Oils are not water soluble. If the skin becomes irritated or if the oil gets into your eyes, immediately flush with V-6 Mixing Oil or any pure vegetable oil and call your health care professional. AMA association regulations recommend flushing with water, which may cause considerable discomfort. Through our experience, we have found that it is better to use vegetable oil to dilute an essential oil.
Contact lens wearers should take extra precaution since essential oils left on the hands or fingers may cause sticking problems with contacts against eye tissue or damage the surface of the contacts.
When pregnant, consult your qualified health professional before using Essential Oils.
For babies and children, always dilute Essential Oils. (Dilution should be at least double the normal amount.) Children love these oils and will derive the same satisfaction and benefit as adults. If a child ingest an oil, administer and oil-soluble liquid and call your local poison control center or seek immediate medical attention. A few drops of a pure essential oil are not likely to be life-threatening, but for your protection, it is best to follow this procedure.
Do not mix blends.
Essential Oils are usually specific in their formulation. Mixing these blends will alter their aromas and effects.
